Shadow Creek High School Football Team is now State Champion
Shadow Creek finally did it. They came close last year but now finally did it. In a thriller that kept everything interesting until the very last play of the game, Shadow Creek HS beat Denton Ryan HS 28-22. Denton still had chance until the last second when a fingers tip touchdown catch was knock off the receiver’s hands and sealed the fate for them. Both teams throughout the year average just over 50 points scored and about 12 points allowed per game so this was a hotly contested game.
The big plays of the game were punctuated with trick plays and muffed plays. The biggest being the bad snap from Denton on a punt which sailed over the head of the punter. He was able to go punt the ball from their end zone but Randy Masters from Shadow Creek scooped it up at about the 30 yard line and ran it to the end zone for a difference maker.
The Pearland and Manvel communities are proud of the Sharks who represented us well on the big stage in Dallas. Shadow Creek, for which it was only their second season playing varsity football, will not be able to defend their title next year in Class 5A div 1. They are moving up to 6A next year.
