Dawson-Shadow Creek Matchup: A Friday Night Lights That You Don’t Wanna Miss

A matchup for the ages is scheduled for late September or early October at Freedom Field against Dawson High School and Shadow Creek High School football teams. Thanks to the new realignment for 2020-2022 by the University Interscholastic League, District 23-6A saw George Ranch and Brazoswood depart from the football league while Alvin and Shadow Creek replaced those schools for the next two years. That game between those two West Pearland schools will be the first between them and is sure to fill out those stands at the Iowa Colony stadium. The UIL schedule is not yet available so stay tuned for an update to come later.

It will be interesting to see if Manvel High School will eventually return to 6A with the next realignment since the school attendance is projected to go beyond the 2,200 students cutoff. Imagine a District with Pearland, Dawson, Alvin, Manvel and Shadow Creek… That would make for interesting high school football season for the foreseeable future. Aren’t we not allowed to dream??
