Former Manvel HS Football Head Coach Going To A Dallas Area School

The coach of the Manvel HS football team that unfortunately lost in State Final in 2017 (that game was a thriller), Kirk Martin, is going to Colleyville Heritage High School. The school is part of the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD sitting just to the west of DFW airport.

Martin left after the 2017 season for a college experience at Syracuse becoming their quarterback coach and was recently moved to a senior analyst position with the team. Who knows if this was a demotion but it sure sounds far from the field. A head coach will always remain a head coach and want to be around the players and make decisions. Martin will take the reign of a team that went 9-5 last year and lost in their regional playoff game.

Martin went 108-25 during his 10 years stint as the head coach for Manvel, leading the Mavericks to eight-straight playoff appearances, six district titles, and two state championship appearances. The last season included the 53-49 state-championship loss to Highland Park in 2017 and as most remember… the infamous onside kick.
