Manvel’s Greedy James Flips Commitment from Texas to LSU
One of Manvel High School’s top football stars is heading to Baton Rouge.
Four-star defensive back Karnell “Greedy” James, who had been committed to the University of Texas since December 2025, has officially flipped his commitment to LSU. The announcement gives the Tigers another major recruiting win as they continue to build one of the nation’s top 2027 classes.
Originally from New Orleans, James has become one of the country’s most highly recruited defensive backs while playing at Manvel High School. Ranked among the top prospects in the 2027 recruiting class, he is expected to play either safety or cornerback at LSU.
James’ decision marks a significant recruiting victory for LSU and a notable loss for Texas, where he had been one of the Longhorns’ earliest commitments. Despite the flip, Texas continues to hold one of the nation’s top-ranked recruiting classes.
